Fortify RF 3D: Pioneering high-frequency innovation

Nearly two years ago, Varioprint has embarked on an exiting and fruitful collaboration journey with 3D Fortify and Rogers Corporation , joining forces to explore new horizons in RF device innovation. As a global leader in high-end PCB manufacturing Varioprint brings decades of expertise in RF technology. Partnering with 3D Fortify, a pioneer in additive manufacturing, and Rogers Corporation, known for their cutting-edge 3D-printable low-loss Radix™material, this collaboration is opening the path for the future of RF devices.

Unifying our expertise
Rogers Corporation has a long history of developing materials for use with RF applications. The traditional materials, while having world-class electrical properties, are limited to uniform sheets of several standard thicknesses. Over the past few years, Rogers Corporation has formulated a 3D printable material with excellent electrical and mechanical properties for high-frequency applications. This path has led them to formulate the Radix™ material, a viscous photo-curable resin with ceramic filler enhancing Dk and Df as RF key parameters and mechanical stability of the 3D printed structures.

Fortify’s FLUX CORE printer is currently the only printer on the market that can effectively print the Radix™ material.  Due to the nature of the fillers that settle over time, Fortify’s Continuous Kinetic Mixing™ (CKM) technology is essential to keep homogeneous and isotropic material properties. The material is spread to a thickness of less than 100 microns and cured with a single flash per layer using a UV Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector. This technology allows for the rapid and precise creation of complex structures that would be impossible to achieve through traditional manufacturing methods.

At Varioprint, we’ve perfected our PCB expertise in RF applications over more than five decades, cementing our position as a leader in delivering highly sophisticated and cutting-edge PCB solutions. This expertise, combined with Rogers' advanced material and Fortify’s pioneering 3D printing technology, makes Varioprint the critical link in driving these innovations into the market.
